A place that took months to prepare. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You didn&#8217;t just pick the first place you came across:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list text\">\n<li>You&#8217;ve been searching for a long time and comparing locations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An architect redesigned the space<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An interior designer chose the materials and lighting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experts have approved your product selection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your prices were calculated, not guessed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A communications agency manages your social media accounts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nothing was left to chance.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anyone who walks through the door understands right away.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He stays. He looks around. They go out.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You&#8217;ve paid for traffic that you aren&#8217;t converting.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>A beautiful, empty space\u2014what a shame. A poorly designed space in a good location\u2014what a waste. <\/em><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two go hand in hand.<\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"ce-qui-se-passe-apres-la-mise-en-ligne\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What happens after the content goes live<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On launch day, everything goes smoothly.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You share the link everywhere. Your friends and family click on it. Your customers congratulate you.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statistics are rising.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A good sign?<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not really. <strong>You&#8217;re the one who brought that traffic here.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two months later, the curve had flattened out.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s normal. The novelty has worn off. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What remains is what the site retrieves on its own.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Six months later, you tally up the numbers.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You list your most recent customers. You&#8217;re trying to figure out where they come from. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A former client who mentioned you. A meeting. A post that did well.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>And no one who found this page through a Google search.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, no one who didn&#8217;t know you beforehand.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Almost all of your visitors come from people who typed in your name or your website address directly.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, people who already knew you, but from elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is not a manufacturing defect.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The website works. It&#8217;s well-designed. It converts visitors.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He just doesn&#8217;t have what it takes to go after the others.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The case of one of my clients<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I completely redesigned his website.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She wanted something modern, something unlike anything else.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It worked.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And the site does a great job of converting the few visitors it gets.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She didn&#8217;t want to invest in SEO at that time.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>I completely understand that. It&#8217;s a budget, and you can&#8217;t do everything all at once. <\/em><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The result today: <strong>Her website is effective, but only when she promotes it<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She needs to share, post, and follow up.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The day it stops, the site stops too.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s the real difference.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A website that works for you.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Or a website you&#8217;re struggling to keep afloat.<\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"ce-que-les-gens-tapent-vraiment\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What people really type<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s what no one explains when you&#8217;re first starting out.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your website answers two questions: <strong>who you are and what you do<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s useful. It&#8217;s even necessary. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But people who don&#8217;t know you aren&#8217;t looking for that.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They don&#8217;t type in your name. Or even your job title. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>They type in their problem.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take over the store.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No one will search for your brand name if it&#8217;s not well-known. People search for: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list text\">\n<li>A housewarming gift<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A lamp for a living room that&#8217;s too dark<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A home decor store open on Sundays<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s the same on the internet:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list text\">\n<li>How much does it cost?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How&#8217;s it going?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How long should I expect it to take?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Who does that near me?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What is the difference between this solution and that one?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If no page answers these questions, there is nothing to rank.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Google can&#8217;t provide an answer to an unanswered question.<\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"celles-qui-nexistent-jamais\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The ones that never exist<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I look at an invisible website, it&#8217;s almost always the same thing.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A home page. An \u201cAbout\u201d page. A \u2018Services\u2019 page. A \u201cContact\u201d page.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everything is here. Everything is clean. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>And everything is about you.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What&#8217;s missing are the pages that provide answers before the first contact:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list text\">\n<li>The price, and what causes it to vary<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The practical steps involved in a project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Case studies, including what was done and why<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Our offerings tailored to your actual needs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You have a services page that lists everything.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your customers, on the other hand, are looking for one specific thing at a time.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rule can be summed up in a few words: <strong>one page, one question, one solution<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>A page that answers five questions doesn&#8217;t address any of them.<\/em><\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"tout-se-joue-avant-louverture\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Everything is decided before the opening<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let&#8217;s be honest: it&#8217;s hard to make up for visibility after the fact.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you decide on the directory structure, you&#8217;re also deciding on something else.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>You decide what will appear in the search results.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s still possible to add pages later. And the most important thing. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We deliver a website. Everyone is happy. The project is considered complete.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>But in reality, it&#8217;s just beginning.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Search engine optimization is a long-term process:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list text\">\n<li>Pages to be added<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Texts that are edited<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Questions we answer because we hear them during appointments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s slow. It&#8217;s steady. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that&#8217;s what sets a dormant website apart from one that brings you visitors.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People you would never have met otherwise.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Good news: You don&#8217;t necessarily have to do it all at once.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My client could very well start doing that next year.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The site is solid. The foundation is in place.
